One of Spains biggest esport organisations, Team Heretics, is close to entering the European VALORANT scene and are expected to announce of three members from the Inferno roster, multiple sources have told haloofthoughts.
The roster will be headed up by star player Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran and comes shortly after his retirement from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was announced by his former team Movistar Riders and Spanish commentator uLISES discussing the potential move previously on a Spanish Valorant podcast. Team Heretics will field an international roster which consists of German Dustin "nieSoW" Durnas and Melih "PAura" Karaduran from Turkey. While the rest of the roster is currently undecided with them looking for their fourth and fifth players to round the team out. They have also signed British coach/team manager Tanishq "Tanizhq" Sabharwal to guide them. The move will mean Team Heretics will become another big Spanish organisation to push into VALORANT, after Giants Gaming made an initial push, with a roster that was invited to the WePlay!Valorant Invitational earlier in the Ignition.
The roster will likely have a mixed reception as while both loWel and PAura are highly regarded players amongst the Spanish and Turkish fan bases, there has previously been a lot of discontent regarding nieSoW after he was previously banned from Battalion 1944 after being caught cheating and was also removed from the early competitive pro hub in Apex Legends for stream sniping. While VALORANT is a new chance for him to prove he has turned a corner and should be allowed to prove this, his actions will likely come under intense scrutiny, especially in the scenes early days.
Team Heretics are expected to reveal their signings in parts but they could announce them shortly with their roster being completed soon. With a lot of esport experience on this roster, there will likely be high expectations for them to do well within the region.
