EMEA VALORANT Coaches & Team Managers Poll #1

By Arran “Halo” Spake

The first EMEA coaches & team managers poll has arrived. As with the first two European coaches and team managers poll. Halo’s EMEA poll follows the same idea as American College sports when ranking the best teams in the region. I have asked coaches and team managers from both tier one and two for their top ten teams from Europe, based on their performances in the VCT Challengers stage. Coaches and Team Managers are not allowed to include their own teams and for the first time, teams from the CIS and Turkish sub-regions are eligible to be selected for the top ten teams. All picks are anonymous.

One of those teams remaining is Acend, the third seed from EMEA, who has battled through a tough group A that included the Korean roster of Vision Strikers and fellow EMEA hope SuperMassive Blaze who beat Acend in the regional qualifiers to take the number two seed.  Now with the playoffs in full swing, Acend is here to show that they are not only better than the North American teams they have been paired with but to show they are the best team in the world.

A team that went a remarkable impressive 101 game unbeaten streak within the Korean region. A team that have dominated the region outside a few slips here and there but also a team that has the ability to be carried by anyone of their current six man roster. Byungchul “BuZz” Yu is on of those players.

After initially bursting onto the scene with Cloud9 Korea, BuZz was eventually signed by Vision Strikers, who were rebuilding their roster after failing to make stage two Masters. An Interview With NYXL DPS Young-Woo “Flora” Lim

By Arran “Halo” Spake

Coming into the 2021 Overwatch League season, there was a lot of unknowns regarding the New York Excelsior. The team’s original and much loved roster had been disbanded after a strong first year that failed to see them win the inaugural season, despite winning stages two and three in 2018, they never reached their full potential as the best team in the world. This led the New York Excelsior to bring in a number of talented rookies from both Chinese and Korean Contenders to transform themselves in to a future powerhouse. One of these players was former Team Diamond DPS Flora, who had shown that he had the ability to play in the Overwatch League but not had the same hype that other Korean DPS players coming into the 2021 season.
