Gambit Esports is set to become the first major organisation from the CIS region to sign a VALORANT roster, sources have told haloofthoughts.
Sources confirmed that Gambit will be sticking to the CIS region and have signed Timofey "Chronicle" Khromov, Nikita "D3FFO" Sudakov, Bogdan "Sheydos" Naumov and Danila "Sunset" Soloviov. They are also expected to sign Andrey "Engh" Sholokhov as their head coach and are expected to announce a fifth in the near future.
Chronicle might be the star player on this roster having previously played for FishkaVTom he is currently averaging 0.91 Kills per Round, an Average Combat Score of 262.3 and an Average Econ rating per 1000 credit of 74.1, ranking him third, sixth and first according to VLR.GG for players with a minimum of 500 professional rounds. He is being paired with Sage main Sheydos, who will be joining Gambit from PartyPlayers and has put up just as impressive numbers according to VLR.GG. In a minimum of 200 professional rounds, Sheydos has averaged 0.96 Kills Per Round, an Average Combat Score of 262.7 and an Average Econ rating per 1000 credits of 61.1.
With Chronicle likely taking the Entry role, it will be interesting to see where Gambit plan to play Sheydos on this roster, especially when d3ffo, who came over to VALORANT from CSGO and Sunset, who previously played for Gambit in Apex Legends both seem to play a similar role to Chronicle. One thing is for certain is that they have one of the best coaches in the region with the pick up of Engh. The former Overwatch Contenders player and coach moved over to VALORANT and has seen early success in coaching FishkaVTom in the CIS region and his experience will be vital for Gambit to shine not only in their national scene but when LAN events eventually return.
