Well known Counter Strike Global Offensive tournament organiser BLAST, are to host a €50,000 European invitational tournament next week. Sources have told haloofthoughts.
Sources confirmed that while the events format, name and invitees is currently tightly under wraps, there will be no qualifying for the event as BLAST have invited four of the best teams from Europe to battle it for the prize and are expected to announce the tournament in the coming days.
The event will mark BLAST's first entry into the VALORANT scene and makes them the first top tournament organiser to host an event for the European region. BLAST are well known within Counter Strike Global Offensive's esport scene after hosting numerous BLAST Premier and Pro Series events, with this tournament expecting to be similar to the latter. They were also previously the owners of Astralis, one of the esports biggest teams.
The move should be a welcome site for both organisations involved and fans who have wanted felt let down by the regions formats during the Ignition Series.
Update 04/09/2020:
Multiple sources have confirmed that FunPlus Phoenix, G2, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid are the four teams invited to the BLAST event. Multiple sources also confirmed the event will take place the 12th & 13th of September with a double elimination format, with matches being best of three and a best of five final.
