Korean Overwatch Contenders powerhouse Element Mystic are looking to expand their organisation with a move into League of Legends, multiple sources have told haloofthoughts.
Multiple sources have shared that Element Mystic are currently in the process of contacting both League Champions Korea (LCK) and Challengers Korea (CK) teams with a view to acquiring a spot for the upcoming 2020 Spring split.
Despite having a League of Legends roster in the third tier of Korea's LoL ecosystem, the move would be a huge step forward in Korean esports for the Overwatch Contenders organisation, who have won the Contenders Gauntlet and Pacific Showdown in Season 1, as well as finishing second Season 2 of Overwatch Contenders Korea in 2019. They also currently own a PUBG roster, which currently competes in the PUBG Korea League..
If completed, the move will see them becoming the second Overwatch Contenders Korea organisation looking to enter the League of Legends pro scene, RunAway announced they were going to be fielding a team in Challengers Korea in 2020.
Whether Element Mystic land in the LCK or CK is unknown at the current time, but it seems that one of Korea's most loved and respected Overwatch organisations are determined to be apart of League of Legends in 2020.
Haloofthoughts reached out to Element Mystic for comment, but they declined.
Edit: Element Mystic do have a team in the third tier of Korea's League of Legends ecosystem. They are looking to either qualify with that team or buy in.
