The Overwatch League have confirmed to all 20 teams that their will be no composition lock for stage 3 of the 2019 season.
The 2-2-2 composition lock was first reported by Rod “Slasher” Breslau and league sources have told haloofthoughts that the league have shut down the idea. Sources advised that this is despite the fact that all 20 teams wanting the composition lock to be implemented.
League sources confirmed they were told that there will be no 2-2-2 lock for stage 3 and any lock will first be consulted with teams prior to being implemented. The idea of the composition lock was to allow a transition away from the current 3-3/Goats meta, while the games developers try to make meta changes.
The announcement will be a big blow to both the teams and fans of the Overwatch League, who felt that the current meta was starting to make the game feel stale and less appealing to watch on a regular basis.
League sources stated that there is hope within the organisations that they will be involved in any future changes similar to this, but for the time being unless there are pending changes similar to what was rolled out prior to stage 2. The league will still be playing Goats for the majority of upcoming stage.
