With Stage one having reached its completion, there were a few iconic moments from the 3-2 victory the London Spitfire gained against the New York Excelsior. The first was the comment made by Jong-Yeol "Saebyeolbe" Park stating his reasons for wanting to see the Spitfire beat the Houston Outlaws coming back to bite him, the second was the moment of elation the team showed, especially Jeong-Seok "NUS" Kim and Seung-Tae “Bdosin” Choi when they clinched the stage by reverse sweeping NYXL. Finally the moment after, when realisation of their success but the incoming meta changes would take effect meaning the Spitfire had to prove they deserved their win. This episode of Aces High, is an interview with one of the leagues most aggressive and effective supports Seung-Tae “Bdosin” Choi
Aces High is a series that attempts to connect the London Spitfire to the fans by providing information and interviews from the team so that you can get to know who they are that little bit further. This is the fourth episode, so if you’re interested in reading the rest of the series where I introduce the team and have interviews with Head Coach Beoum-Jun “Bishop” Lee and Main Tank Jae-Hee “Gesture” Hong then follow the links.
Today I've spoken to Bdosin who is viewed by many as one of the best support players in the league, especially when it comes to playing both Ana and Zenyatta. Known to have a more attacking style of support play. He uses this to his advantage and make himself a focus point to allow his fellow team mates flourish. He's also the one Spitfire who's out happy to talk a little bit of trash talk when it's required
Hi Bdosin, thank you for taking the time to talk to me.Yourself and the Spitfire had gruelling final day of the stage having to play games against both the Houston Outlaws and New York Excelsior, teams you’d lost too that same weekend. What was your thought process going into both of these games and what did you do personally that was different?
It was tough. I think we maintained our focus well and that led to our victory. We didn't getting cocky, believed in the practice we did, and remembered the mistakes we made in the past against them.
Saebyeolbe said he wanted to face the Spitfire in the stage one final, to “smack them again” and the rivalry between the Spitfire is there for NYXL. Do you have anything to say in return?
Those that knew of you prior to OWL, knew that you have one of the most aggressive and deadly Zenyatta’s in the professional scene. You’ve manage to transfer that to OWL, why do you feel you're so successful on him?
Constant practice and effort along with coach feedback has made me a much stronger Zenyatta.
With the Mercy meta thankfully over now and a likely rise of Lucio and Moira. What approach will you take as a support alongside those hero’s and how much will the meta change in your opinion.
The meta has certainly changed, but we are still trying to find what is comfortable for us. So for now I think all supports are good and I am practising a lot of Moira. I think all supports are viable at the moment, and will be used based on maps.
You’ve played as a professional in South Korea and now in the USA. What’s the difference between South Korea and OWL play levels?
I think the OWL is much higher in terms of competitiveness, because all teams are professional and organisations are serious about the competition. Because we all live here in LA and scrim each other constantly, I feel the skill gap between all 12 teams are getting smaller and smaller.
The Shanghai Dragons invited yourself and Profit to celebrate Chinese New Year with that. What was that like and did you all get up to much?
I have always known that the Chinese new year was the biggest holiday China. It was an honor for me and profit to share that day with the Shanghai Dragons. The food was great and we had a fun time. I would like to learn more Chinese and get closer with them.
Finally I’m looking to get my Spitfire jersey at the end of next month. I’m going to get a player name on the back. Why should I get your jersey?
You won't regret it!
Stage two week two continue's tonight. However, Bdosin and the Spitfire start their week against the Florida Mayhem on Thursday night and finish it against the in form Philadelphia Fusion. Both games will have the Spitfire as the away team. I want to thank Bdosin for taking the time out to answer my questions and good luck to him and the team for this week.
