When it comes to looking after yourself and grooming, it’s important to have two things. A good set of products that you can trust to do a solid job and having routine that you keep up with on a regular basis. This is because when you are shaving it’s not just about the razor and shave cream you use, it’s also about the pre and post skincare products you may (or may not) use. I’m sharing my go to products at the current time.
When it comes to shaving, one of the most beneficial and important things you can do is to cover the shaving area with a hot/steams flannel, it's also the one step that a lot of men either forget about or simply don't do. By doing the step above it will help reduce the damage to your neck and face that shaving can cause. From there is on to the following steps.
Men-U Healthy Facial Wash
The Healthy Facial wash from Men-U is an all rounder in regards to when's best to use it. With it being ultra concentrated you only need half a pump if you're trying to target specific areas to a full pump for all over your face or for shaving. The Tea Tree helps clear your pores from the daily muck and grime while also working as a good, cleansing item before you start your shave.
Men-U Pro Black Brush
The Pro Black Brush from Men-U has been a staple in my shaving routine for well over 6 months. Using synthetic bristles which lifts your beard to help provide a closer and smoother shave, the non-absorbing bristles are more hygienic and creates a superior lather with your shaving cream to give you that perfect shave.
Harum-Scarum Shave Cream
Harum-Scarum's Shave Cream is another product that I've fallen in love with and has been used continuously since I first tried it. It's the least irritating cream I've used, leaving my skin feeling soft and leaving little to no dry, sore or red patches after use. With a warm spice and wood smell that you smell lightly throughout the day. It's one of my recommended shaving items.
Sebamed For Men Aftershave Balm*
If you follow on a regular basis you'll know my love for Sebamed's day defence and night creams (which I've reviewed here) due to their neutral 5.5 PH level being perfect for my dry and eczema prone skin. So when I heard that they created an aftershave balm I had to get it. Along side the mentioned PH level, Sebameds Aftershave Balm is also Paraben free meaning that there's no irritants with in the products. This also means that there is no sign of the usual pain during application and although it is super absorbing, there is still a good amount of coverage from the balm.
Obviously the most important part of any shaving routine, your razor has to be the product you feel comfortable with the most. I use disposable razors for two reasons: firstly from an economical point of view, you get more good quality razors for the same price you'd replace the head of your normal shaver and secondly; it's more hygenic in my opinition as you can dispose of the whole razor not just the head.
The Xtreme3 Duo Comfort razor has 3 flexible blades and a head that pivots so that it adapts to the contours of your face to give you the best shave possible. It has a lube strip at the bottom of the razor head which contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to sooth your face and prevent irritation and a guard bar at the top for any skin stretch, formulated with Jojoba oil and Shea Butter. It's also perfect for any travel needs you may have with a protective cap. Although it's a recent addition to my routine but has been the best shave I've had in a while.
I hope you enjoyed reading my shaving essentials post, is there any products you feel are better than these in our routine.
