Gears of War 4: Lancers at Swarm

WOOOOOOO, IT'S GO TIME BABY. Now that I have gotten my inner Augustus Cole out of the way, anybody who has followed me on twitter will know I have been pining for Gears of War 4 as for the last month. So after a bit of a shit week and just wanting to get home, I walked in to my bedroom to find that I had an XboxOne with Gears of War 4 on the bed. (Have I said I have the worlds best fiancee?!).
The Gears of War series are my favourite games that I have played. Gears of War 4 is 25 years in the future after the ending of the war with The Locust and focuses on the previous main character Marcus Fenix's son JD, his friend Del and a settlement outsider Kait. The story very much evolves around the three new characters, though some of the old favourites do return be it via a flash back or involved when a new enemy attack throws everything back into disarray .

The online multiplayer modes return with my favourite mode called Execution, along side previous modes of Guardian and Warzone, whilst also introducing 3 new modes. Dodgeball which allows members of your team to return to the field after killing an enemy, Arms Race where you have to kill the opposite team 3 times with each weapon and Escalation which is a king of the hill type game where you have 3 rings to take control of, you earn a point for every second it is owned but uses Execution rules. The ever famous Horde Mode (which goes up to level 50) also returns.

Gears of War 4 includes a competitive match making element on which you can play 5 placement games on both Execution and Escalation and be place in either Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onxy or Diamond. Each division as it were have 3 tiers, with 1 being the lowest and 3 the highest.

Crate drops are something new in which your able to unlock both weapon and outfit skins, bonuses for Horde and online bounties. New weapons have been introduced such as the Buzzkill which fires buzz-saw blades and the Dropshot it allows explosive drills to go over terrain and drop from above. You'll also be happy to know favourites such as the Boomshot, Longshot and My personal weapon of choice the Torque Bow also return.

So far I have loved every moment of Gears of War 4's and I am looking to explore the match making system a lot further. What gaming series is your favourite? or if your a Gears fan, who is your favourite character past or present.

  1. Great post!
I'm not into gaming Or gears of war in fact (but my boyfriend on the other hand) - he is a HUGE fan and only plays this game so when the new one came out I got it for him and he plays it everyday since.
So obviously I was pleasantly surprised when this came on my twitter feed, also good to learn a bit more about the game from the info you shared!
Can you suggest any cool GOW related gifts at all? I was thinking of the controller but without asking my boyfriend and giving it away I have no idea if it's any good?!
Sorry for the long comment lol!
